A new 1,450 square foot tennis building was finished in 2003. It features a check-in area, lounge, restroom, a small kitchen, a fully stocked pro shop, and the pro’s office.

The clubhouse also includes a 400 square foot pavilion with an ice machine room, picnic tables, and restrooms with showers. A ball machine and practice hoppers are also available.

Village newcomers have a variety of programs available to them, ranging from league play to fun events. Visitors should call the tennis center more than a week in advance to set up play.

HSV Tennis Association

The Hot Springs Village Tennis Association is very active and has approximately 400 members ranging in ability from 2.5 to 4.0.

USA League

USA League tennis is a national league where teams form locally and play.

Local winners move on to the State Championships, Sectional Champion-ships and National Championships. Teams are separated based on ability and age.

The Coronado Tennis Center is home to nearly 40 teams each year.

Teams put themselves together based on their NTRP rating and age: senior (over 50), super senior (60 & over) and adult (19 & older) with most of our teams being senior.

There are also combo teams where two levels of players play together as long as they don’t surpass a specific level.

USA Leagues have four local seasons. Adult and Senior seasons begin in February and end in late May. The Mixed Doubles season is June through September. The Combo season is August through September. The Super Senior season is in October.

Tennis for Juniors

Tennis training for Juniors is available for ages 7 - 18 throughout the year. Summer programs are available for children through juniors. See the section on "Summer Programs" for further information.

Champions/Honors

The Coronado Tennis Center has produced many champions.

Since 1989, there have been over twenty champion teams, one national champion, a national finalist, a sectional champion and twenty state champions.

The Coronado Tennis Center was named a 2005 USTA Southern Tennis Association Welcome Tennis Center of the Year for its programming and promotion of tennis. In 2006, the Coronado Tennis Center was named "Facility of the Year in Arkansas."

The Hot Springs Village Tennis Association (HSVTA) was given a 5-star status in 2005, 2006 and 2007 from the Arkansas Tennis Association for its endeavors as a Community Tennis Association in developing local tennis.

Tennis Lessons

Private, semi-private and group tennis lessons are available for children, juniors, and adults year round and are given by our two tennis pros, Bob Wagstaff, USPTA and Derek Nordentof, USPTA.

He has directed competitive training programs for Tennis Corporation of America, and coached for the USTA elite players programs including Arkansas’s Area training centers, Junior Davis & Federation Cup, and the National Zonal competition, winning twice.

Many of his junior students have been ranked and he coached Jessieville High School to five consecutive State Championships.

Coach Wagstaff has 12 years experience working with senior tennis players in Hot Springs Village. He has experience with and enjoys teaching and coaching all ages and abilities.

Derek Nordentof, Assistant Pro, is a USPTA certified tennis professional. He has moved to the Village from Wisconsin.
