Recreation in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas
Outdoor Recreation

There are three structured outdoor recreation facilities in Hot Springs Village: Bocce Ball, Lawn Bowling and Pickle Ball.

Both activities operate as club programs.

Bocce Ball

The Bocce Club has league play on Thursdays from March through October at 3:00 p.m. except during July and August when play is at 4:30 p.m.

The object of the game is to get game balls as close to the target ball or Jack as possible.

All necessary equipment is provided by the club. For further information, call Jim Cara at 501.922.3140.

Lawn Bowling

The Village Green Bowls Club is active all year. May – October times are Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 am and Monday and Thursday at 7:30 pm. November – April play is at 1:30 pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Lawn Bowling is played on a green with a target ball (Jack), and is similar to regular bowling; however, the bowls are only two to three pounds and are less strenuous on the legs and back. For further information, please visit our web site at: www.members.cox.net/vgbc or call Earl Mulley at 501.922.6079 or Guenter Scharnowski at 501-915-9452.

Pickle Ball

Pickle ball (photo below) is a hybrid game that mixes elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. The game is played on a 20' x 44' court. Pickle ball has three unique attributes that you will not find in any other racquet sport; the serve position, the double bounce and the no-volley zone.

Pickle ball is a game of finesse and strategy rather than just raw power, however, the game may be played recreationally or aggressively.

To learn more about pickle ball and arrange a training class, contract Dee Vincent at 501-915-8742 or Dave Mentink at 501-922-0084.
